With the pressure cooker market in India clearly divided into the Outer-lid and the Inner-lid categories, customer preferences for either of these vary across different regions. While Inner-lid is preferred in the North and East of the country, the outer lid is the preferred choice elsewhere. The Prestige Nakshatra range is the company’s first offering in the inner-lid category and given the large preference for the same in the North-East; it was only apt that the launch of the range should take place here. TTK Prestige has been the clear number 1 in the Outer-Lid category and is the leader in this segment across the country. The company through the innovation of the Gasket Release system in the outer lid format redefined safety in pressure cookers. It was important that the same level of safety of the outer lid pressure cookers be available in the inner lid format as well before Prestige ventured into the inner lid format. Prestige Outer lid pressure cookers come with a three stage safety system. These are the pressure regulator, the gasket release system and the metallic safety plug. The first two are pressure sensitive devices and the third is a temperature sensitive device. All inner lid pressure cookers in the market currently have only a two stage safety system. These are the pressure regulator and the metallic safety system. This format so far has not had the benefit of the second pressure sensitive back up unlike the Gasket Release System in the outer lid format. A result of years of consumer research, the Prestige Nakshatra range of pressure cookers is designed to compliment today's modern kitchens, while also offering the highest level of safety in inner-lid pressure cookers. Prestige Nakshatra has a three stage safety system, just like the outer lid pressure cookers of Prestige. These are the pressure regulator, the patented Resettable Safety Device (RSD) and the metallic safety plug. The safety device ensures that excess pressure is let out away from the user in the case of a blockage in the vent-tube of the pressure regulator.
