Legend of Devi Katyayani

Devi Katyayani was born with the sole purpose of vanquishing the demon Mahishasura. Tormented by his cruel acts, the trinity Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva combine together their energies which crystallize in the form of rays at the hermitage of Katyayan. With his intense meditation and prayers, Devi Katyayani emerges from these crystallized rays, to be born as his daughter. Bestowed with the most powerful weapons, Devi Katyayani proceeds to the Mysore Hills. Mahishasura mesmerized by her beauty, asks for her to be wedded to him. She challenges him to a battle, saying that his victory would decide if she was to become his. In that fierce battle, she cuts his head with her sword, coming to be known ever since as ‘'Mahishasuramardhini”, the slayer of Mahishasura.

To a woman who's aspiration sees no Edge
To a woman who's stance senses no Fear
To a woman who's demeanour splinters her Demons

You're a warrior, concealed in Your Grace Attire
You're a beacon of hope, A woman born with Flame & Fire
You're a latent image of percipience, A vivid & vibrant heiress of Pacifier

If he eyes your innocence & bothers your Pride & Honour
You were raised to reincarnate as a man's worst Nightmare
'Cause it's your voice & consent that counts for a Fawner

And Forget Not, You're A Woman
A Woman with a Heart of Clay, But the Strength of Universe

Who's that lassie? Could you figure out a true heir of Goddess Katyayani in today's world?

Well, she's around us. She's facing the demons every day while strolling to her office. She's facing Mahishasura while walking back to her home. Her modesty is being challenged and there isn't a day when her innocence & self-esteem is questioned.

But it's not an obstacle or obstruction that counts for her. It's the sheer determination to accomplish her ultimate desire, setting an example that she could eventually reincarnate as the goddess herself and smash him into pieces.

So, have you ever seen or met modern-day her?

A real-life #ModernAvatar of Goddess Katyayani could be India's first IPS officer, Kiran Bedi. An epitome of Valor, Vigour and Valiance, she ameliorated the life of criminals in Indian Prison and brought many changes too. She guided the men & women behind bars who fell to the darkness of ignorance and ruined their lives to wrong deeds.

But when the time came to act differently, she served without brooding over the consequences. She single-handedly administered the Punjab Separatist Movement & fought against the sword carrying Sikh militants.

She's the pride of our nation! Acclamations and A standing ovation to the #LadySigham.

Let the shakti of Maa Katyayani, be present in every woman who confronts her life’s battles every day, 'cause she needs commingled support of every walking soul to quell & quash her demons.
